Die Erwartungen sind also gro\u00df. Wie dreht der <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jazzzeitung.de\/cms\/2015\/07\/jazzfest-berlin-2015-neue-leitung-sportliches-programm\/\">Sportjournalist Richard Williams<\/a> die Sache? Wohin geht die musikalische Reise? Die Augen gro\u00df, die Ohren spitz.<\/p>\n<p>Mit seinem ersten Abend hat er schon mal einige Ecken des Jazzlebens ausgef\u00fcllt. Es war eine Reise in die Gegenwart, ges\u00e4ttigt mit einer Vergangenheit, die man nicht nostalgisch beschwor.<\/p>\n<p>*) Alle Fotos stammen vom <a href=\"http:\/\/hupe.urteilskraft.de\/start\/\" target=\"_blank\">HuPe-kollektiv<\/a> (mehr dann sicherlich bald dort), zu 99 Prozent von Petra Basche.<\/p>\n<h2>Zettelwirtschaft<\/h2>\n<p>Das <strong>Splitter Orchester<\/strong> besteht aus 24 MusikerInnen, die aus der Szene freier Improvisation kommen. Der Posaunist George Lewis komponiert f\u00fcr dieses Ensemble ein \u201eCreative Construction Set\u201c, eine Urauff\u00fchrung. Gesteuert haben sich Musiker untereinander, in dem sie Zettel mit Spielanweisungen von Zeit zu Zeit anhoben. Das Verfahren ist bekannt und wirkt nach au\u00dfen leider wenig sexy. Vor allem droht ein heilloses Klangchaos bei 24 Mitspielerinnen. Dass es dazu nicht gekommen ist, ist der weisen \u201eConstruction\u201c von Lewis zu danken und der hervorragenden Klangkunst der einzelnen MusikerInnen. D\u00fcnne Passagen mit ordentlich Luft waren ebenso in den knapp 40 Minuten zu h\u00f6ren wie fetter Krachpassagen. Das Ganze war durchaus angenehmer zu h\u00f6ren als zu sehen, also wenn man sich vom Geschehen h\u00f6rend mitziehen lie\u00df. Dass es dabei mitunter rhythmisch im Einzelnen grober zuging, ist, scheint es, unvermeidlich. Es blieb immer die Hoffnung, dass sich das alles dann doch ausdifferenziert. Ein wenig war die Musik dabei wie in einer Glaskugel eingekapselt, die Halbdemokratie der Zettelwirtschaft hat eben ihre Zw\u00e4nge. So ernst ist das doch alles auch wieder nicht. Egal \u2026<\/p>\n<h2>Jedem Anfang wohnt ein Zauber inne<\/h2>\n<p>Beim <strong>C\u00e9cile McLorin Salvant Quartet<\/strong> tat sich eine ganz andere Welt auf. Das Quartett um die S\u00e4ngerin ist keine Begleitband f\u00fcr den facettenreichsten Jazzgesang, den man sich aktuell w\u00fcnschen kann. C\u00e9cile McLorin Salvant kann alles singen, vibratolos den Ton aus sich herausschieben, trockenes Get\u00f6n und gesungener Schrei. Mit eigenen St\u00fccken und mit Standards, alles einerlei. Ein Griff zur\u00fcck in die Work Songs gelingt dabei ebenso glaubhaft wie musikalisch reich. Und immer dabei das Quartett als Ganzes als Gesamtkomposition. Das machte einen Staunen, aber eben nicht atemlos sondern zugleich so l\u00e4ssig wie das Jackett, das der Schlagzeuger an seiner Batterie anh\u00e4ngte. Auf der gro\u00dfen B\u00fchne des Hauses der Berliner Festspiele entwickelte sich schleichend so etwas wie Clubatmosph\u00e4re. Nur manchmal, dann und wann, schien ihr K\u00f6nnen den Weg zu versperren. Da ist zu viel M\u00f6glichkeit drin, dass sie sich selbst damit zu erschlagen droht.<\/p>\n<h2>Mediterran-Rock entr\u00fcckt \u2013 Vincent Peirani<\/h2>\n<p>Mit den ersten T\u00f6nen f\u00fchlt man sich in die 70er und 80er Jahre zur\u00fcckgeschlagen. Eine Rocknummer, mit Folkmusik verf\u00fcllt, danach frei Dissoziation, zerfahrenes Kleinklein, das sich erst wieder zusammenbauen muss. Das Quintett um den Akkordeonisten <strong>Vincent Peirani<\/strong> und den Sopransaxophonisten Emile Parisien kam danach nicht mehr zur Ruhe, sein Instrument wirkte zeitweilig wie eine Waffe. Eine ultraschnelle Postrockmusik spulte sich da ab, die Musiker wirkten wie auf Speed, wie unter Drogen. \u00c9mile Parisien sprintete durch seine Soli mit einer schier unglaublichen Virtuosit\u00e4t, haltlos, fast irre. Darunter klebten Harmoniestrukturen wie man sie in postmodernen Musikarchitekturen von Art Zoyd oder die Belgier von Tuxedomoon zu kennen glaubt. Dann wieder wendet sich das Ganze in arabische Gefilde, die nicht weniger dicht sind, dann zwischendrin immer wieder auch mal eine innige Klangpassage zwischen Peirani und seinem Mann am Fender Tony Paelemann. Polyrhythmik ruckelt dazwischen und l\u00e4sst das Geschehen oszillieren. Das geht ab wie ein Wasserfall, der immer tiefer und tiefer f\u00e4llt und kein Ende findet \u2013 es geht immer noch mal neu los, gegen die musikalische Schwerkraft. Es ist Musik, die sich selbst andauernd zu \u00fcberholen scheint, eine Raserei. Das fordert die Zuh\u00f6rer, es nimmt sie aber ebenso gefangen. Keine Ahnung, ob Richard Williams das alles auf dem Schirm hatte \u2013 topographisch ber\u00fchrten sich die S\u00fcdstaaten mit dem Mittelmeer und mit Moers. Zettelwirtschaft Das Splitter Orchester besteht aus 24 MusikerInnen, die aus der Szene freier Improvisation kommen. Der Posaunist George Lewis komponiert f\u00fcr dieses Ensemble ein \u201eCreative Construction Set\u201c, eine Urauff\u00fchrung. Gesteuert haben sich Musiker untereinander, in dem sie Zettel mit Spielanweisungen von Zeit zu Zeit anhoben. Das Verfahren ist bekannt und wirkt nach au\u00dfen leider wenig sexy. Vor allem droht ein heilloses Klangchaos bei 24 Mitspielerinnen. Dass es dazu nicht gekommen ist, ist der weisen \u201eConstruction\u201c von Lewis zu danken und der hervorragenden Klangkunst der einzelnen MusikerInnen.
