Obwohl das Jazz-Weekend dieses Jahr bereits zum zwanzigsten Mal stattfand \u2013 von aufgesetztem Jubil\u00e4umstrubel keine Spur. Stattdessen, wie gewohnt, ein ausgesprochen abwechslungsreiches, hoch interessantes Programm. Den offiziellen Startschuss gab es wie immer mit einem Kinderprogramm der Jazzbande und \u201eWarum der Kontrabass das Schlagzeug mag\u201c. Den Auftakt zum internationalen Programm bestritt dann Bill Frisell mit seinem aktuellen Quartett mit Greg Tardy, Gerald Clayton und Jonathan Blake. Ein ungemein intimes Konzert mit vielen leisen Zwischent\u00f6nen und wunderbaren Improvisationen. H\u00f6hepunkt des Abends sicherlich die erste (von zwei) Zugaben: \u201eWhat the World Needs Now\u201c von Burt Bacharach – da stockte so manchem H\u00f6rer der Atem.<\/p>\n

Auch der zweite Abend war in jeder Hinsicht ein ganz besonderer. Mehrmals verschoben hat es dann schlie\u00dflich geklappt und Lizz Wright kam mit dem Gitarristen Marvin Sewell, Bobby Sparks an den Keyboards, dem Bassisten Ben Zwerin und Ivan Edwards am Schlagzeug in den gro\u00dfen Saal des B\u00fcrgerhauses.<\/p>\n

Der Abend begann im Duo Wright\/Sewell und \u201eAmazing Grace\u201c. Nach der ersten G\u00e4nsehaut an diesem Abend betrat der Rest der Band die B\u00fchne und begl\u00fcckte einfach das Publikum. Wrights Stimme ist unglaublich zur\u00fcckhaltend, aber trotzdem eindringlich und so verzauberte sie das Publikum mit \u201eSweet Feeling\u201c, \u201eWalk with me, Lord\u201c oder \u201eOld Man\u201c. Als sie sich dann selbst an Piano setzte und gemeinsam mit ihrer Band Songs wie \u201eGrace\u201c oder \u201eSalt\u201c anstimmte, war alles einfach nur perfekt. Ganz gro\u00dfes musikalisches Kino in Unterf\u00f6hring.<\/p>\n

Vierh\u00e4ndig<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Den Abschluss des Jazz-Weekends \u00fcbernahm David Helbock mit seinem ehemaligen Lehrer Peter Madsen und der Formation Austrian Syndicate, die mit Raphael Preuschl, Claudio Spieler und Herbert Pirker eine wahnsinnige Rhythmusgruppe an Bord hatte.<\/p>\n

Nat\u00fcrlich denkt man da sofort an Joe Zawinul, von dem auch gleich das erste St\u00fcck des Abends interpretiert wurde \u201eMoney In The Pocket\u201c, um dann aber gleich in die komplette Soundkiste von Jazz, Fusion \u00fcber Weltmusik zu greifen, alles zu mischen und mit dem Syndikat wieder auf neue musikalische Beine zu stellen. Ach ja, einem weiteren gro\u00dfen \u00f6sterreichischen Musiker wurde auch noch, leicht augenzwinkernd, Tribut gezollt – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts \u201eKomm, lieber Mai, und mache\u201c in einer ganz eigenen Syndikatsfassung.<\/p>\n
