Bevor die drei Musiker zusammen kamen, spielten sie eigentlich komplett improvisierte Musik. Carmen Castaldi und Lovano verbindet eine langj\u00e4hrige\u00a0 Freundschaft die seit Teenagerzeiten besteht. Sie sind zusammen aufgewachsen, besuchten zusammen das Berklee College und spielten \u00fcber all die Jahre immer mal wieder zusammen. Marilyn Crispell und Lovano lernten sich Mitte der achtziger Jahre kennen, als Crispell gerade in der Band von Anthony Braxton spielte. Die Jazzwelt ist klein, man ist oftmals miteinander verbunden, jammt und spielt, tauscht sich aus und experimentiert gemeinsam.<\/p>\n

Bereits das 2019 ver\u00f6ffentlichte Debut Album Trio Tapestry<\/strong> wurde als musikalische Sensation gefeiert. Mit Garden of Expression<\/strong> folgt nun der zweite Genie-Streich des Trios. Auf ihrer zweiten Europa Tournee traten sie im November 2019 am Abend bevor die Aufnahme im Auditorio Stelio Molo RSI in Lugano stattfand, dort live auf. Dieses Konzert war klang- und stimmungstechnisch wegweisend f\u00fcr die dann folgende Aufnahme, die mit entsprechendem Fingerspitzengef\u00fchl von Manfred Eicher produziert worden ist. Alle Kompositionen des Albums, wie schon zuvor auf dem Debut Album, stammen aus der Feder von Joe Lovano. Beeindruckend wieviel Raum er mit seinen harmonisch gepr\u00e4gten St\u00fccken f\u00fcr die Entfaltung seiner Mitstreiter schafft. Eine enorme Bandbreite: lyrisch, fast gefl\u00fcsterte L\u00e4ufe von Lovanos Saxophon werden erwidert von Crispells einf\u00fchlsamem Spiel am Fl\u00fcgel, behutsam erg\u00e4nzt durch Castaldis durchgehend filigranem Spiel. Man sp\u00fcrt beim H\u00f6ren der Aufnahme f\u00f6rmlich die Vibes der Musiker.<\/p>\n

Tiefgr\u00fcndige Melodien, gefolgt von beseelten Improvisationen lassen den Zuh\u00f6rer aufmerksam zuh\u00f6ren. Das Album erzeugt eine sagenhafte lyrische Spannung, fein ziselierte Improvisationen wechseln mit behutsamen Gegenlinien, bewusst gef\u00fchrte Dialoge zwischen den Musikern die nie ausufern, sondern immer auf dem Punkt sind und Wesentliches erklingen lassen. Alles in allem ein echter ECM-Klassiker, der wunderbar zur besinnlich winterlichen Jahreszeit passt. Balsam f\u00fcr die Seele!<\/p>\n
