Muddy Waters war einer der gr\u00f6\u00dften Blues-Stars der 50er-Jahre, mit seinem energiegeladenen Sound hat er mitgeholfen, den urspr\u00fcnglichen, akustischen, l\u00e4ndlichen Blues zu elektrifizieren und so den Chicago- oder modernen elektrischen Blues mitgeformt. Doch Ende der 50er-Jahre erlahmte das Interesse des afroamerikanischen Publikums an der Musik seiner Vorfahren, Rhythm \u2018n\u2019 Blues und Soul waren so viel neuer, frischer, verhei\u00dfungsvoller. Und doch sollte der 3. Juli 1960 ein geschichtstr\u00e4chtiger Tag werden, denn Muddy Waters und seine Band traten beim Newport Folk Festival auf und trafen auf ein neues, vornehmlich wei\u00dfes Publikum. Die Band war in feine Anz\u00fcge gekleidet, Muddy Waters spielte kaum Gitarre und konzentrierte sich aufs Singen, denn er hatte fantastische, gut harmonisierende Musiker im R\u00fccken: Francis Clay am Schlagzeug, Andrew Stephens am Bass, James Cotton spielte Bluesharp, Otis Spann Klavier und Pat<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Hare Gitarre. Obwohl sein Feuer in den USA ein wenig auf kleinerer Flamme brannte, wurde mit dieser Aufnahme der Blues-Funke nach Europa getragen.
