Seit acht Jahren treten sie in dieser im Jazz ungew\u00f6hnlichen Besetzung auf. Auf ihrem aktuellen Album setzt der franz\u00f6sische Cellist Vincent Courtois mit den Saxophonisten Robin Fincker und Daniel Erdmann literarische Figuren in Kl\u00e4nge um \u2013 inspiriert von Werken des Autors Jack London. Dessen unterschiedliche Geschichten habe Courtois erst vor kurzem kennengelernt, seitdem seien sie ein st\u00e4ndiger Begleiter. Auch Gitarrist Wolfgang Muthspiel macht eine Musik, die sich langsam entwickelt, mit Melodien, die ganz fein ineinander verwoben sind. Er bringt eine immens gro\u00dfe Vielfalt auf der Gitarre mit. Ein Denken in musikalischen Kategorien ist dem Turtle Island Quartet fremd: Lustvoll \u00fcberschreiten die Geiger Alex Hargreaves und David Balakrishnan, der Bratscher Benjamin von Gutzeit und Malcolm Parson am Cello Grenzen. Eines der wenigen Konzerte in Deutschland findet am 8. Mai im Kulturforum in F\u00fcrth statt.
